About NextrixNextrix was created right before I was about to head into college in 2001. I originally created the site to post my resume and show the personal websites I was working on at the time. As things started to improve in my life and I started to roll into the job market the website had gone through many updated versions to support more of a portfolio style website.
Why did I decide to use the word "Nextrix" as my site name, instead of something like my full name which is used by other freelancers today. Well, at the time of creating the website, aliases were still being used in place of the domains for personal sites, and I felt I needed a name to represent myself and my interests. I created Nextrix to explain myself in one word. The first part of the word 'Next', explains the future aspects in my life. I have a great interest in future technologies and ideas. I always like to think ahead when it relates to something for which I have great passion for. Mind you, sometimes I do get a little carried away. The second part of the word 'rix' gives the first part that "Matrix" feel to it. Ya I know... not that much of real innovation in the name. I could have just gone along with the hyped market back then and did something like "e-Next" or "iNext", but really at the time Nextrix flowed out much better. I put brackets around the 'X' not just as an artistic element, but also to give the user reading the word the acknowledgement that it is pronounced as "Netrix". This complicated reasoning behind the creation of the word supports the "Conceptual Simplicity, Structural Complexity" theory I relate to in all my work. |
